Blindness caused due to cataract is becoming a major problem in our country. Around 3.8 million people in a year suffer from cataract blindness in India. Keeping in line with the World Health Organisation's global initiative: “Vision 2020”, Honda 2Wheelers in partnership with Deepalaya, a non-profit organisation, has set up a vision centre in Gusbethi Sahsola village of Mewat District, Haryana. In collaboration with AIIMS, this project ensures weekly visits from doctors who offer OPD services and identify the people suffering from cataract. Identified patients are transferred to AIIMS for surgery. Follow up camps are conducted for them after the operation.
