Sarath grabs 2nd finish in SuperSport 165, Double podium for Mithun & Senthil in Pro-Stock 165

Chennai, September 2, 2018: The third round of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship in Chennai came to a close with IDEMITSU Honda Ten10 Racing team riders rounding up 5 podium finishes in both SuperSport 165 and Pro-stock165 championships.

Leading the Sunday rally from Honda stables was Sarath Kumar (2nd position) in SuperSport 165cc race. In ProStock 165cc class, Mithun Kumar P.K (2nd position) and Senthil Kumar (3rd position) delivered a double podium for Honda Ten10 racing team.

Speaking on the performance of Honda riders, Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj, Vice President, Brand & Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “It was a mixed weekend for us. While our riders bagged 3 out of the 6 podiums in Pro-stock 165, we could add only 2 podiums to our tally in SuperSport 165. Mithun was a consistently performer with double podium finish in both races. With today’s race, a good 7 of our young finds of IDEMITSU Honda India CBR 150R Talent Cup are now in the Top 10. Honda’s trailblazing teenager talent like 14-year-old Mohamed Mikhail, 17-year-old Charan T. and Kritik Habib are now developing fast. We plan to nurture them more going ahead. Midway into the season, the championship gets more intense now.”

National Championship round 3 - SuperSports 165cc & ProStock race 2 results

The second race of Round 3 was a tough one.

In SuperSports 165cc, Sarath was back in aggressive form with as many as 3 daring overtakes taking the suspense right up to the finish line. Fending off Ahmed successfully, Sarath finished 2nd. Despite his 3rd podium finish yesterday, S. Mathana had an unfortunate crash.

In Pro-Stock 165cc, Mithun Kumar PK led with his aggressive style and finished 2nd – making him the only Honda rider to win double podium finish in the Round 3 this weekend.

IDEMITSU Honda India CBR 150R Talent Cup, Race 3

Continuing to win hearts and attract attention of all was the Honda Talent Hunt find, 14 year old Mohamed Mikail from Chennai who completed Sunday with his hattrick victory in all 3 races this weekend. With this, Mikail has won all 5 victories in as many races of the season till date.

Completing the podium in Race 3 were Mohamed Mukail (1st), Anandhu K.K (2nd) and Charan T. (3rd).

9 of the 16 riders in CBR 150R Talent Cup have been identified from the 3 Honda Talent Hunt till now. These 9 includes Mohamed Mikail, Varoon S, Charan T and Geoffrey Riviven Emmanuel from Chennai, S. Raj Dashwant from Tricky, Kritik Habib from Hubli, Aniket Choudhary from Guwahati, Samuel Martin Wilson from Bengaluru and Nideesh from Vishakapatanam.
