Honda empowers women with road safety initiative

New Delhi, July 19, 2014:: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) today celebrated the first anniversary of Delhi Traffic Training Park, at Roshanara Bagh in association with Delhi Traffic Police.

Present at the occasion were chief guest - Mr. Muktesh Chander - IPS, Special commissioner of Police - Traffic, New Delhi, Mr. Anil Shukla - IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police - Traffic, New Delhi and Mr. Yadvinder S. Guleria, Vice President - Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd.

Since its inauguration last year, more than 20,000 people have been trained at Delhi Traffic Training Park, Roshanara Bagh. For female riders, Honda has specialized women trainers who have trained more than 1400 female riders so far in the capital.

Encouraged by the unprecedented response of Delhiites to learn safe riding at Roshanara Bagh traffic park, Mr. Yadvinder S. Guleria, Vice President-Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “In just one year with active support of Delhi Traffic Police, Honda has educated over 20,000 Delhiites on road safety. For us, most overwhelming was the unprecedented response of Delhi women – from 18 year old college students to 45 plus home-makers and working women. This has led to launch the “Dream Riding” initiative – a lifeline for every female in Delhi who desires to become independent and empower themselves through mobility.”

Honda’s latest initiative – ‘Dream Riding’ is a unique safety riding program, wherein women can now realize their dream of becoming independent and learn how to ride a two-wheeler in a single day!

Aspiring females above 18 years of age have to simply drop a mail with their details on the e-mail id: dreamriding@ttpdelhi.in . Honda’s safety instructors shall get in touch with them and help them learn two-wheeler riding at Traffic Training Park, Roshnara Bagh.

Activities at Traffic Training Park 
At the Traffic Training Park, Honda promotes Road Safety in a specially designed, protected environment. With its unique Lifetime Safety Education, Honda’s skilled safety instructors engage people from all age groups starting from as young as 5 years young children to adults with a special focus on new and female riders. 5-8 year children of age learn ‘Safety with Fun’ in Primary School activity. Honda’s specially imported CRF 50 model helps young minds from 9-12 years understand safe riding through practical experience. The virtual experience in Riding Trainers aids young new riders above 18 years of age to experience 100+ possible dangers on road.

Honda’s road safety initiatives  
Globally, Road Safety Promotion is one of Honda's top priorities since 1970. Under the “People Come First” philosophy, Safety is an integral part of all Honda’s business activities across 36 countries. In India, Honda has been promoting Safe Riding an everyday habit of all 2Wheeler riders since 2001. In 2012, Honda adopted its first traffic park in Jaipur, Rajasthan. This was soon followed by Delhi. Overall more than 53,000 people have been trained at the two parks. Overwhelmed by the deep appreciation of citizens at both the traffic parks, Honda recently inaugurated two new traffic parks in Odisha at Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
