Exciting Finale of Honda One Make Race unleashes racing spirit once again!

Chennai, December 23, 2012: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), the only Honda in India successfully conducted Round 5 of ‘MMSC – SIDVIN FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2012’ at the Chennai Motor Race Track, from 21st – 23rd December, 2012 for the 5th consecutive year.
 
New excitement across all Categories
In its refreshed format, the ‘Honda One Make Race’ tested the riding capabilities of participants in three broad categories of races- Novice, 2 Open categories and the New Team category.
 
Bringing intense excitement and adrenaline to the race, CBR 250R category has reached new popularity levels as a Team Championship. In the new format, Honda has leased 10 CBR 250R performance bikes to teams registered at FMSCI. Excluding the engine and chassis of CBR 250R, teams can make any modifications to enhance vehicle performance. Honda is further supporting the participating teams with Original Spare parts worth Rs. 10,000 and set of tyres replacement per round.
 
Providing a unique racing platform to Novice riders less than 23 years is popular 110cc CB Twister while riders above 23 years can now directly participate in the 2 Open category CBF Stunner and CBR 150R Championships.
 
Over and above ‘Honda One Make Race 2012’, Honda is also providing CBR 150R with original spares support on lease for Group B, Group C and Group D of ‘National Motorcycle Racing Championship’.
 
Honda One Make Race- Round 5 Overview
From 5 consecutive years, Honda has provided racing Experience to over 1800 biking enthusiasts through the highly popular ‘Honda One Make Race’. .
 
In the exciting finale of Season 2012, The Championship winners were announced for CBF Stunner, CBR 150R and CBR 250R who received cash prizes each. (1st – Rs 30000, 2nd –Rs. 20,000, 3rd –Rs. 10,000). Winning team of CBR 250R Team Championship thrilled with the Grand Prize of CBR 150R. Winners list attached
 
Honda’s initiatives for ‘Safety Promotion’
Honda also engaged over 1645 customers and spectators with its Safety activities held at the race track.
 
In the five rounds of Honda One Make Race, 2012, over 470 Participants enjoyed slow riding (an activity that aims at enhancing bike balance), while the Gymkhana activity (a ‘fun’ riding activity for enhancing rider maneuverability & road-sense) saw 297 participations. Aiding 561 first time riders with overall balance, Honda set up its riding trainers so that riders can develop a healthy road sense. 135 kids learnt first-hand about safe riding with the CRF-50 model while 28 females were given female safety riding tips.
 
Participation in Asia Dream Cup
To promote riders and develop riding skills Honda Motor Company, Japan has initiated the Asia Dream Cup Motorcycle Racing Championship. In this Championship, every Honda Company within Asia is sponsoring 2 riders each compete for top spot in Dream Cup on CBR250R. In line with the same, HMSI sponsored 2 riders (Mr. Gautam Mayilvaganan & Mr. Deepak Papineni) with technician to participate in the Championship held at Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Japan, Taiwan and Qatar.
 
Nurturing motorsports talent through Honda Racing training School
As a brand synonymous with racing globally, Honda also organized the “Honda Racing Training School” for the 2nd consecutive year. Through this platform, Honda aims to nurture biking enthusiasts in India to reach an all new level of global racing expertise. Honda’s star Moto GP trainers from Japan - Mr. Noboru Ueda and Mr. Hiroyuki Kikuchi gave intensive practical and theoretical training to a total of 47 riders in August & November 2012. Indian biking enthusiasts felt a remarkable difference in their lap times, riding technique through this activity.
 
Motorsports in 2013!
Expanding motorsports in India, Honda will continue to bring racing excitement in 2013 in India with five rounds of Honda One Make race, special Honda Racing Training by Moto GP riders of Japan. Taking Indian riders to global racing map, Honda will also sponsor 2 riders for the Asia Dream Cup in 2013.
