HMSI promotes road safety with unique Mr. and Ms. Safe Rider Contest

• 86 students participated in the unique initiative on Road safety
 
Jaipur, September 29, 2013: To accelerate its initiative in promoting road safety as a responsible corporate, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) – the Only 2 Wheeler Company of Honda organized a unique activity Mr. and Ms. Safe Rider Contest at the Honda Traffic Park engaging the youth of the city. The initiative was taken to promote and expand safety riding through this innovative contest & encourage youth for riding safe. The contest saw very enthusiastic participation of 86 students across 8 colleges of Jaipur .Mr. Krishan Kumar Choudhary and Ms. Jyoti Sharma bagged the trophy for Mr. and Ms. Safe Rider.
 
The winners were chosen based on the aggregated scores of their safety riding skills in four rounds vis-a-vis Pre Test, Breaking Test, Straight Slalom & Gymkhana and Slow Riding which took place at the event.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Harpreet Singh, Department Head, Safety Riding Promotion, HMSI said "We have received tremendous response from young enthusiastic students of Jaipur. Our objective is to inculcate road safety awareness amongst the young minds through most innovative ways. We will continue our endeavor to educate and motivate more people to ride safely in India. Safety training is not only about training new riders but also educating existing riders on the correct method of riding."
 
It is important to mention that as a part of its Road Safety initiative, HMSI inaugurated first-ever Traffic Education Park in Jaipur in January`13 by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Rajasthan.
 
HMSI safety team is training around 1400 people between the age group of 5 to 18 every month. Since inauguration, a total of 11500 individuals belonging to different age groups including over 500 females have been trained at the Jaipur traffic training park encouraging them to experience the joy of safe riding. Apart from this, HMSI also ties up with corporate houses for imparting traffic training to their employees.
 
Globally, Road Safety Promotion has been one of Honda`s top priorities worldwide since 1970. Under the "People Come First" philosophy, Honda follows Safety as integral part of all its business activities. In India too, Honda is committed to making Safe Riding an everyday habit for all two wheeler riders. Honda operates with a unique "4S" approach where it promotes Safety Riding in addition to Sales, Service & Spares under one roof.
